CaseNEX-DataCation: Customized Portals for Data-Driven Decision-Making & Graduation Tracking

Teaching and learning are reciprocal processes that depend on and affect one another. Thus, the assessment component deals with how well the students are learning and how well the teacher is teaching. -Kellough and Kellough (1999)

Online Data Mining Tools for School Improvement
CaseNEX-DataCation supports school districts with online data mining tools fully aligned to individual state regulations governing accountability under No Child Left Behind (NCLB). Schools can offset low student performance outcomes and promote academic success by assessing student needs and analyzing diagnostic data and performance trends. Now data can drive the instructional needs of individual students and accountability subgroups, as well as the professional development needs of teachers and instructional support specialists.

Graduation Eligibility Tracking System (GETS)
GETS is a dynamic web-based software application developed specifically to provide support to school leaders at all levels, as well as teachers and instructional support specialists. GETS allows users to better understand and utilize to their advantage the statistical formulas, regulations and policies relating to graduation eligibility under NCLB. GETS allows you to:

  • Analyze individual student performance over a four year period through a seamless online process.
  • Determine individual student or subgroup graduation eligibility status under specific state requirements (for example, Local, Regents, or Advanced diplomas, based on the complex graduation requirements under NYSED Commissioner Regulations 100.5).
  • Generate multiple queries and individual reports, by subject, subgroup, program, and cohort year, and automatically recalculate new totals instantaneously.
  • Develop CEP, PPR, Mid-Year and End-of-Year Review reports from one versatile portal.

Small Learning Communities & AIS/Instructional Grouping Function
The GETS also has the capacity to allow individual academies, small learning communities, Academic Intervention Services, or general instructional groups within a school to disaggregate and track high stakes accountability performance data by student, subgroup, or cohort from the macro population within the entire school itself. Additionally, an individual academy within a school can run custom comparisons reports and through careful analysis, determine if a particular pedagogical approach or program is generating a desired goal relative their performance on a state or city examination. An administrator of an SLC or instructional group can run the same reports and analysis from the GETS for every academy or instructional group created, which would be limitless.

Lastly, the GETS will provide schools with the necessary resources needed to generate custom reports for grant evaluators from the city, state and, or private organizations with aggregate and disaggregated high stakes accountability performance data on every active or discharged student, subgroup, or cohort within an academy, instructional group or school.

The intuitive nature of GETS means very little training for users who quickly gain access to powerful information at the click of a button. The days of using rulers and highlighters to schedule student exams and courses are over!
